産まれたてのティラノサウルスの身長は90センチメートル（約1メートル未満）で、体重も数キロgしかなかったらしいですよ。意外と小さいですよね。ここからおおよそ1年間で数百キロgも増えるんですよ❕
(The height of a newborn Tyrannosaurus was about 90 centimeters (less than 1 meter), and its weight was only a few kilograms. It’s surprisingly small, isn’t it? But in just about a year, it would gain several hundred kilograms!)
👀特徴（Feature）
・強力な顎と鋭い歯：一咬みで骨を砕くことができる、世界最強クラスの咬合力（最大で約6トン）。 （Strong jaws and sharp teeth：The strongest bite force in the world (up to about 6 tons), capable of crushing bone with a single bite.）
・二足歩行：後ろ脚で立ち、バランスをとるための長い尾を持っていました。 （Bipedal: stood on hind legs and had a long tail for balance.）
・小さな前脚：とても小さく、2本の指しかありませんが、非常に筋肉質だったとされています。 （Small forelegs: very small, with only two fingers, but it is believed that they were very muscular.）

（There is a theory that the short front limbs of the Tyrannosaurus might have been used for support when getting up. If you look closely, they actually have quite cute little front legs!）
・優れた嗅覚：鼻の構造から、獲物の匂いを遠くから察知できた可能性があります。 （Excellent sense of smell: The structure of their noses may have allowed them to detect the scent of prey from a distance.）
🏃♀️走る速さ：推定走行速度（Running speed ：estimated running speed）
時速25～45キロメートル程度で走ることができたとされています。一部の研究では、最大速度50キロメートル近くまで達した可能性も示されています。 （It is believed that the Tyrannosaurus could run at speeds of around 25 to 45 kilometers per hour. Some studies suggest that it might have been capable of reaching a maximum speed close to 50 kilometers per hour.）
ちなみにチーターは時速115キロメートル、ライオンは時速80キロメートルといわれているので、現代の肉食ハンターと比べると…..実は足速くないです❕❕
（By the way, cheetahs can run at speeds of 115 kilometers per hour, and lions at 80 kilometers per hour. So, compared to modern-day carnivorous hunters… turns out, they weren’t that fast after all! 😄）
💡体は羽毛に覆われていた？（Was the body covered with feathers?）
獣脚類恐竜の中には全身が羽毛に包まれた種類がいたことがわかってきたようですね。ティラノサウルスもその一つ。しかしティラノサウルスの場合は全身が羽毛で覆われているのではなく、トサカのように頭から体の上の方に羽毛が生えていたとのことですね。まだまだ研究段階で新たな発見を待ちたいです。 （It seems that some theropod dinosaurs were fully covered in feathers. The Tyrannosaurus was one of them. However, in the case of the T. rex, it wasn’t entirely covered in feathers; rather, feathers grew along its head and upper body, somewhat like a crest. It’s still an area of ongoing research, so we’re waiting for more discoveries to shed light on this!）
某有名な映画「ジ○ラ○シ○ク○ー○ド」に出てくるティラノサウルスは羽毛がまだありませんでしたよね。新たな発見で、まさに「今日の常識が明日の非常識」ですね。

💡肉食かスカベンジャーか？（Carnivore or scavenger?）
長年の議論として、ティラノサウルスが「自ら捕食する能動的なハンター」だったのか、それとも「死肉をあさるスカベンジャー」だったのかというテーマがあります。
現在では、多くの研究者が「両方の行動をしていた」と考えているようですよ。 （For many years, there has been debate over whether the Tyrannosaurus was an “active predator” that hunted for itself or a “scavenger” that fed on carcasses. Nowadays, many researchers believe that T. rex likely engaged in both behaviors.）
やっぱり肉食恐竜の中でも最大の人気をほこるティラノサウルスは、最強な捕食者であってほしいと願ってしまいますね。
（I would hope that Tyrannosaurus, the most popular of the carnivorous dinosaurs, would be the strongest predator of all.）
💡ティラノサウルスは最強か？（Is Tyrannosaurus the strongest?）
※ただの予測ですので、本当のところはわからないです。私の想像の中の世界です。 （It’s just a prediction, so I don’t really know. It is a world in my imagination.）
☆ティラノサウルス vs スピノサウルス（Tyrannosaurus vs Spinosaurus）
スピノサウルはティラノサウルスよりも長い体を持っており、長いくちばしをいれると体格的にもティラノサウルスを凌駕するといわれています。しかし生息地域が水辺であるため、通常の陸上であればティラノサウルスが勝つんじゃないかと予測します。たぶんね。
（Spinosaurus had a longer body than Tyrannosaurus, and when you include its long snout, its overall size is believed to have surpassed that of T. rex. However, since Spinosaurus lived in a watery environment, it’s predicted that in a typical land-based encounter, Tyrannosaurus might have had the upper hand. Well, that’s the guess, anyway!）
☆ティラノサウルス vs アロサウルス（Tyrannosaurus vs. Allosaurus）
アロサウルスの体長は約9メートルほどで、体はティラノサウルスに比べると小さいですが、顎は強かったようです。アロサウルスは集団で狩りをするようで、集団対ティラノサウルス1体ならもしかしたら勝てるのかな？それは反則か。そもそも生息時期にずれがあるので、実際に戦う機会はなかったですね。
（The Allosaurus was about 9 meters long, which is smaller than the Tyrannosaurus, but it had a strong jaw. Allosaurus is believed to have hunted in packs, so if a group of them faced off against a single T. rex, maybe they could have won? Although, that would probably be considered cheating! Also, since their time periods didn’t overlap, they never actually had a chance to fight each other in reality.）
